Acupuncture is a system of healthcare which has been practised in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years. Treatment involves the insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body in order to unblock energy pathways. According to Chinese philosophy, the individual experiences good physical, mental and emotional health when the energy in these pathways (meridians) can flow freely. The meridians can be disturbed through many factors such as stress, injury or emotional upset. Acupuncture can be used to both maintain good health and to alleviate a wide range of conditions.
